CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch method of influencing the body's natural ability to heal and balance itself. The Central Nervous System is at the core of every system of the body and mind. If one's body is in good balance, the body, mind, heart, and spirit work in harmony. Thus you feel relaxed, focused and healthy. When there is an imbalance, which may be evidenced in headaches, exhaustion, depression, irritability, ear infections, motor incoordination, delayed speech, sleeplessness, etcetera, every level of the child is affected. By addressing the core of the body, the Central Nervous System, the body can regain its ability to heal itself.
Craniosacral & Structural Therapy For Children & Babies
This is a combination of several therapy methods, including craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, and soft tissue unwinding. Craniosacral therapy may be a term you've heard before, and may be what you're seeking today. I have been providing Craniosacral therapy to babies since 2008.
Craniosacral therapy is a form of manual therapy that is included with Structural Therapy. It helps your baby feel balanced, relaxed, and well. At your baby’s first session Krissy will hold your baby gently and slowly place her hand at different areas of your baby’s head, neck, and spine. With this sustained, gentle touch, the body's tissues will re-align and release restrictions in order to facilitate healthier physiological function.
This is a very enjoyable experience for your baby. Many babies experience their first smiles and sounds during Craniosacral treatments.
During a Structural Therapy session kids 8 and older, and newborns, lay on the table face up, fully clothed. Babies, toddlers and young children will join their parent with a book or quiet game. Then the function of the Craniosacral system is assessed by touching specific points on the child’s body to feel its rhythm. When asymmetry or restriction is noted, prolonged and gentle touch is applied to that area of the body to release and rebalance the rhythm. The body is then free to unwind the areas of tension and find the place of homeostasis. Kids respond in a variety of ways. They may yawn and get sleepy, or laugh and play more exuberantly. Kids bodies are quick to respond to this therapy, and relief of symptoms comes with ease. Children love structurall therapy! I’ve witnessed so many kids improve their school, play, eating and sleep skills with treatment.
Having difficulty feeding your baby can be a heart breaking and frustrating experience. All you want to do is nurture your baby and help them grow strong and healthy, and if she/he cannot breast feed, you are left feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and in need of help. There are many factors involved with breast-feeding, and most can be resolved with therapeutic intervention through the combination of CranioSacral therapy and Breastfeeding coaching.
